SADD was founded in 1981 as Students Against Driving Drunk and currently sponsors chapters called Students Against Destructive Decisions. Our mission, simply stated, is to provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, and other destructive decisions.

A copy of our annual report can be accessed online under the "About Us" section of this site. We are also happy to mail out a copy of our current annual report at no charge. Visitors may request a copy through our e-mail address or call us, toll-free, at 877- SADD-INC (877-723-3462).


We participate on GuideStar, the online standard for nonprofit accountability. Visitors can obtain electronic access to our most recent IRS Form 990 via our link to the GuideStar website.

Information We Collect & How We Use It
For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name but not the e-mail address (where possible).

We collect information volunteered by the visitor, such as survey information, chapter registrations, programming requests, and mailing list signups.

The information we collect is used to provide information and services to registrants according to their requests and to conduct the business of the organization. SADD will not sell your information to other businesses or organizations.
We make available our chapter registration information to SADD state coordinators in the states of registration and to agents of the organization necessary to perform our business.

We will perform mailings or other communications to our chapter and mailing lists upon request of select government, corporate, and nonprofit partners in circumstances that advance the mission of the organization. We do not sell any of the names, e-mail addresses, or other information that we collect.

A Note about Donor Information
We maintain records of all financial contributions made to SADD. Personal information is private and confidential. SADD may contact donors with further communications via the Web, US Postal Mail, or telephone. If you wish to restrict the use of your contact information, please let us know by one of the following methods:

When individuals make a donation online, we may request the following:

• First and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, e-mail address, and clarification of gift type, e.g. memorial or honorary contributions.
• Through Entango, standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) is processed in a secure, encrypted session, a proven standard for secure Web messaging transactions.
• In the case of memorial or honorary contributions, a personalized gift letter is sent to a designated recipient, usually the family member of the deceased or the individual for whom the tribute is made. Therefore, we will request the name, address, city, state, and zip code for your designated gift letter recipient.

Aggregate Information Collected from the Web Server
We collect anonymous information from our Web server about your visit to our site in order to monitor general traffic patterns on our site. This information is collected and stored in paper files, and benchmark data is maintained on an electronic file on the server. We compile and analyze this information using Web Trends software. Reports generated by Web Trends include information such as the following:

• total number of visitors
• most visited pages
• peak traffic time
• browser versions
• search terms used
• average number of pages requested
• average duration of visit
• total visitor traffic

A Note about Cookies and Ad Servers
With respect to cookies, we do not require cookies to be set by the user

With respect to ad servers, we do not partner with nor do we have special relationships with any ad server companies.

Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we strive to maintain physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards to secure the information we collect online. This includes the use of Entango for processing financial donations securely.

SADD is not responsible for the contents of any linked Web site. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by SADD of that Web site and is provided only for informational purposes.

SADD reserves the right to change this policy at any time. Our privacy policy will be kept up-to-date and clearly posted on our Web site.
From time to time, we may use registrant information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to our Web site and provide Web site visitors with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If Web site visitors are concerned about how information is used, he/she should check back at our Web site periodically. Registrants may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which it was originally collected by sending us an e-mail at the address provided above.
