Summary

On January 17, we issued a letter to Representative Jerrold Nadler regarding whether the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) provided adequate relocation planning, advisory services, and coordination of assistance to individuals and businesses being displaced by the Fulton Street Transit Center Project, which receives federal funds. We advised that: (1) FTA's Lower Manhattan Recovery Office and the MTA improved relocation assistance provided to tenants; (2) tenants were given additional time to move out of their spaces; and, (3) all tenants had moved without the MTA having to evict anyone. We will be asking FTA to instruct MTA to audit the costs billed by their outside relocation consultants.
