June 10, 2002

Summary

Cornie Gene Lowe, a ground crew employee at the Del Rio International Airport, Del Rio, TX, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Del Rio to operating an aircraft without an airman’s certificate and making false statements to the FAA. After his pilot’s license had been suspended for falsifying his airman’s medical application, Lowe flew as pilot-in-command on a single-engine aircraft with a passenger aboard from Del Rio to Ruidosa, NM. Lowe also falsely certified in his pilot log book that he conducted a pilot’s flight review as a certified flight instructor. Sentencing has not been scheduled. OIG investigated the case.
