On October 10 and October 11, respectively, Terry Crockett, owner/operator of Terry Crockett Architects, a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and Eric Selby, a former Skysites, Inc. regional vice president, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, PA for their roles in a corruption scheme related to FAA-regulated airport concessions contracts at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Crockett was sentenced to pay $7,500 in restitution and $2,700 in criminal fines and to serve two years probation. Selby was sentenced to pay $10,833 in restitution and $3,200 in criminal fines and serve three years probation. In 1998, the City of Philadelphia entered into FAA-regulated concession contracts worth approximately $15 million with Skysites, Inc for advertising at PHL. In February 2006, a federal grand jury charged Selby, Joseph Evans and Crockett, with conspiracy, mail fraud and wire fraud. In March 2006, Crockett and Selby each pled guilty to one count of conspiracy and one count of wire fraud, admitting that they used Skysites to illegally fund $30,000 in contributions to political action committees (PAC) that supported the Mayor of Philadelphia as a way to secure the lucrative PHL advertising contract.
