Focus serious attention on eliminating disparities in mental health care for minority groups
The Alliance for Latino Behavioral Health Workforce Development, a strategic partnership of the leading national Latino behavioral health professional organizations, and other key leaders in the Latino health and behavioral health professions, and workforce development, and the National Resource Center for Hispanic Mental Health (NRCHMH), a private non profit organization spearheading the development and operations of the Alliance strongly recommend the following:
1) Adding a new strategic initiative on the elimination of disparities in the availability of, access to and the provision of culturally and linguistically competent mental health care to individuals from racial and ethnic minority populations, especially those…

Include consumers/persons in recovery on advisory bodies on issues related to treatment and recovery
The CMHS National Advisory Council has a subcommittee of consumer/survivors advising the CMHS director - and SAMHSA - on issues of concern to us. This is the only such body in all of HHS, and should be replicated at the SSA and other agencies that impact our lives and recovery - beyond SAMHSA.

Start screening shrinks for mental illness, addiction, predispostion for suicide etc
Studies show that psychiatrist have high rates of suicide and are at risk of drug and alcohol problems. They have high stress and divorce rates. Isn't it time that we stop pretending that they are immune to the normal problems that all people experience? We need to mandate screening for ALL mental health care workers for their safety as well as for the safety of the public at large. Considering that psychiatrist, doctors etc are "human" and they are protected by their respective industry insurance; even when they rape, mentally abuse, kill by overdose, misdiagnoses, etc...and the public is not…

Hold Congressional hearing on the safety of drugs & the damage of labels make informed consent LAW
The facts about the mass of misinformation that is passed off as truth in the mental health business is ellgal, immoral and has single handedly created more pain and ruined lives than anything in the history of mankinds bad ideas. TRUTH- this industries needs to be held publically accountable for the lies it sells the public. The govenment and the courts need to take an active role in investigating the legitimacy of anything and everything that comes out of this industry. People's Lives depend on it.

many generic psychiatric meds do not work well. We've tried many the name brand counterparts work.
Please educate people about this and insist that insurance companies pay for the name brand when the generics are not effective. I think many people think their medication doesn't work because they're using generic. We've had years of experience of this with my daugher and husband. They both do great on namebrand...the generics are like sugar pills.

Support Work Re-entry programs for Well-educated, Experienced ppl w/ MI Dx
All current work re-entry programs are geared toward less educated people with mental illness diagnoses, who have little work experience. But there are many people with diagnoses, whose lives have been destroyed, but who in their recovery now need more advanced help finding higher level jobs. All of these people have no support (financial, employment, housing) because they're not at the very bottom economically. But, they desperately need help finding work and housing, too.

Stop lying about the chemical imbalance myth that supports the INEFFECTIVE and Dangerous drugging
The top of this page says, prevention works, treatment is effective. These lies have to stop. Congressional hearings must be held and many professionals have and are primed to speak out about the harm of industry invented labels, and the INEFFECTIVE, dangerous medications etc that are used as "treatment". Until the chemical imbalance lie is addressed, this industry can do little good for anyone. It serves ONLY to "make work projects" and feed off victims in crisis that it uses to sell its psuedo science and toxic brain damaging drugs to. This industry has no credibility. Stop selling lies and…
