Peer Review of Stem Cell Science Working Group

With any new area of science, integrating the review of scientific applications into the mainstream of peer review is a challenge. A key challenge is developing sufficient expertise in review panels.

The goals of the Working Group are to:

  1. Evaluate the current status of stem cell applications, triage status, IRG assignments and requisite expertise, effective SRA knowledge and management of stem cell policies and procedures, etc.

  2. Review assignments and abstracts of all applications submitted for review that use hES cell codes.

  3. Evaluate the need for center/virtual stem cell repository.

  4. Make recommendations on steps to facilitate equitable review, and need for preliminary data, etc.

  5. Consider specifically the need and justification for a designated stem cell review group.
