A directive published in the June 27, 2003 Federal Register requires
new grant applicants provide a DUNS (Data Universal Numbering
System) number when applying for Federal grants through the
Grants.gov web site after October 31, 2003. The DUNS is a unique
9 digit identification number provided by Dun and Bradstreet. The
DUNS had not previously been maintained on the Payment Management
System for existing grant recipients; however, we are now in the
process of updating our records for all payee accounts in our
system.
Beginning Monday, February 14th, the 'Request for Payment' screen
will include a field for your organization’s DUNS number.
- Enter the 9 digit DUNS in the first box.
- If your organization uses
the Plus4 on CCR*, enter the Plus4 in the second box
.
- Once the DUNS has been entered, it will be retained and
displayed on future requests and you will not have to enter it
again.
Some recipients recently received and responded to an email from
DPM requesting DUNS information. The high volume of response
and the resulting data entry validation has proven to be
overwhelming, so everyone having a DUNS number is being asked to
enter it on the 'Request for Payment' screen.
If your organization does not have a DUNS number, please disregard
this request. If you are uncertain whether your organization has a
DUNS or to request a DUNS, contact Dun & Bradstreet at
(866) 705-5711.
If you have questions regarding this request, please call the DPM Help
Desk at (877) 614-5533 or your DPM account liaison.
*Grants.gov has selected the CCR (Central Contractor Registry) as
the system in which all new recipients must register. Grants.gov is
the centralized federal site where applicants can find and apply for
new grant opportunities. If you would like more information, visit
the CCR link on the www.grants.gov/GetStarted
site.
