Strategy in Action

Responsibility for achieving the goals of the Strategy does not fall to the Federal government alone, nor should it, as the President noted in his letter accompanying the Strategy. Indeed, we all have individual and organizational responsibilities to examine our activities and determine how they can best be aligned with the priorities and steps clearly articulated in the Strategy so that we are working in to concert toward these important goals.

Since the Strategy’s release, stakeholders from across the Federal, state and local governments have been working toward these goals. In addition, non-governmental actors from the education, business, faith, media, philanthropic, and other communities have been making meaningful and important contributions to advance organizations, communities, and the nation toward the Strategy’s vision. The Strategy has been a catalyst for States and local government developing their own implementation plans for achieving the goals in the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, and for working with other partners to better coordinate responses to HIV/AIDS at the state and local levels. Success will require the continued commitment of governments at all levels, businesses, faith communities, philanthropy, the scientific and medical communities, educational institutions, the media, people living with HIV, and others.
