Sequencing of cancer genomes and/or exoms had established the existence of two types of cancer genes: one show high mutation rates (~100%) while the others show low mutation rates (5-10%); every cancer type/specimen is characterized by a specific assortment of cancer genes with low mutation frequencies ("driver" genes). Does anybody know how to estimate the number of "driver" genes? Michael I. Lerman, M.D.,Ph.D.
