Clinical Center International Training Programs

  • The Clinical Center has educated more than 21,000 trainees in the three core curricular courses since 1995.
  • The CC clinical research curriculum is free-of-charge and available to students worldwide via distance learning.

Introduction to Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR):

  • Mission: Teach how to effectively conduct clinical research
  • More than10,400 students have enrolled in IPPCR since it began in 1995
  • 32 total remote sites for 2010-2011 course
  • Course textbook, Principles and Practice of Clinical Research is edited by Drs. John I. Gallin and Frederick P. Ognibene, NIH Clinical Center leaders, and has been translated into Japanese and Chinese for its first and second editions
  • NIH faculty have partnered with universities abroad to bring the IPPCR course to:
    • Ibadan, Nigeria in May 2010
    • Beijing, China in November 2008 and Chengdu & Sui-nin, China in April 2009

Principles of Clinical Pharmacology (PCP):

  • Mission: Teach contemporary drug development and utilization
  • Over 6,500 students have enrolled in PCP since it began in 1998
  • 23 total remote sites for 2010-2011 course
  • NIH faculty traveled to Beijing, China in November 2009 to teach a live course
  • Course textbook was translated into Chinese in its second edition

Ethical and Regulatory Aspects of Clinical Research (Bioethics):

  • Mission: Teach ethical conduct of clinical research
  • 4,250 students have enrolled in "Bioethics" since it began in 1999
  • 12 remote sites participated in the 2010 course, including 6 international
