Fast-Fail Trials (FAST)
The FAST initiative is providing a quick way to test new or repurposed compounds for their potential as psychiatric medications. Using small clinical trials, FAST will quickly identify whether the study compounds hit the intended target in the brain – those that do will be identified for further research, while those that do not will be set aside, avoiding unnecessary time and cost.
Rapidly-Acting Treatments for Treatment-Resistant Depression (RAPID)
RAPID is promoting the development of speedier therapies for severe, treatment-resistant depression through the creation of a research team tasked with identifying and testing promising pharmacological and/or non-pharmacological treatments that lift depression within a few days, instead of weeks or months.
Army Study to Assess Risk and Resilience in Servicemembers (Army STARRS)
Army STARRS is the largest study of mental health risk and resilience ever conducted among military personnel. The goal of the project is to identify, as rapidly as possible, risk and protective factors that will help the Army develop effective strategies to reduce rising suicide rates and to address associated mental health problems among soldiers.
Recovery After an Initial Schizophrenia Episode (RAISE)
RAISE is a large-scale research project exploring whether early, targeted, and aggressive treatment will reduce the symptoms and prevent the gradual deterioration of functioning characteristic of chronic schizophrenia.
