Purpose |
Promoting Adolescent Health Through School-Based HIV/STD Prevention and School-Based Surveillance grant program will provide funding to help school districts and schools develop and implement program activities designed to reduce HIV infection and other STDs among adolescents and reduce disparities in HIV infection and other STDs experienced by some populations, including rural populations.
Grantees will be expected to do one or more of the following:
- Collect and report profile data for policy and program improvements
- Educate youth about sexual education, emphasizing HIV and STD prevention
- Increase adolescent access to key sexual health services
- Track policies, educate key decision makers on policy issues, and help districts and schools implement policies, including laws, regulations, procedures, administrative actions, incentives, or voluntary practices of governments and other institutions, related to HIV/STD prevention
- Reduce disparities in HIV infection and other STD experienced by teenage (aged 13-19 years) black and Latino young men who have sex with men
