Noisy Planet and Quota International Partner to Teach Parents, Kids about Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

The Noisy Planet campaign is pleased to announce its partnership with Quota International, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that seeks, among other things, to promote healthy hearing. As a Noisy Planet partner, Quota International will help expand the reach of the Noisy Planet campaign to parents and other adults who influence the health behavior of tweens (children ages 8 to 12). The Noisy Planet campaign encourages parents of tweens to teach their children how to adopt healthy habits that will help protect their hearing for life.

Quota International, with clubs in North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific, supports activities that meet the special needs of people in communities in the United States and abroad. Their projects include promoting healthy hearing, helping women in need, comforting children in crisis, mentoring students of all ages, and sharing the gift of literacy. Quota's We Share Foundation provides training, guidance, technical support, publications, and grants to assist their volunteers and increase the impact of their good works, including sharing time, talents, and resources to those who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech-impaired.

"Quota International members are a very dedicated group of community volunteers," said Nancy Fitzpatrick, the organization's deputy executive director. "We look forward to working with the Noisy Planet campaign, promoting the importance of protecting ears—young and not-so-young—against noise-induced hearing loss."

Noisy Planet and Quota International will work together to promote healthy hearing habits—sharing materials, providing subject matter reviewers when appropriate, and reaching out to parents and tweens within the community.
