Arlington National Cemetery is seeking public comment on a draft Programmatic Agreement (PA) for operations, maintenance, and repair activities at Arlington National Cemetery. This agreement was developed among Arlington National Cemetery, the Virginia State Historic Preservation Officer, and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. The PA establishes procedures for landscape and monument maintenance, minor repairs to buildings, structures, and objects to be consistent with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation. The document will streamline compliance with National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 review, and institutes procedures for the protection of unexpected archaeological finds. Major construction and expansion projects are not the subject of the agreement, and Section 106 for those actions will follow standard procedures.

The PA is available for review at here. This PA will be available for review and comment for 30 days from the date of this posting (February 13 – March 15, 2013). If you have any questions or comments, please contact Mr. John H. Haynes of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, at john.h.haynes@usace.army.mil or 757-201-7008.
