Improving Supervision in the Community with Technology

Community corrections is the supervision of criminal offenders in the resident population, as opposed to offenders confined to secure correctional facilities. The two main types of community corrections supervision are probation and parole.

NIJ's Role

NIJ funds research, development, testing and evaluation of technology to improve the efficacy of offender supervision. NIJ's identifies the needs of parole and probation agencies as well as community-based offender programs and draws on directly available technology that can be quickly adapted for use by these organizations.
