There can be no economic recovery in our state or our nation without a thriving small business sector. But too many small businesses – which create more than 64 percent of jobs in our nation – lack access to the capital they need to survive and create jobs. We must ensure that small businesses have the resources they need to rebuild our economy and promote economic development around Ohio.

  • Brown Alerts Eligible Businesses To Approaching Deadline For Loans From U.S. Small Business Administration

    U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is alerting small businesses and non-profit organizations in northwest Ohio of loans available through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Because of severe weather in Fulton, Lucas, and Williams counties, SBA is offering working capital loans to help affected businesses recover from any weather related damages. The filing deadline to receive a capital loan is March 1st.

  • Senator Brown makes stop in Fremont

    FREMONT - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s 88-county roundtable tour stopped at Terra Community College on Friday, and Brown was surprised by one thing: all the people who came to watch him talk with local business leaders and elected officials.

    “There’s a lot of interest,” said Brown, a Cleveland Democrat who was elected to his second term as senator in November.

    Brown said the stops usually focus on jobs, and this stop was no exception, as community leaders told him about stagnant wages and increasing expenses. Brown asked Fremont Mayor Jim Ellis how water rates now compared to 10 years ago.

    New federal assistance is available for Vinton County recovering from high winds and severe storms this summer. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has declared Vinton County a federal emergency disaster area.
