The American Dental Association (ADA) is the leading source of oral health information. The ADA and its 157,000 member dentists nationwide are committed to the public?s oral health through professional and scientific advancements and access to care for all Americans.

To improve public health through the Million Hearts™ initiative, the ADA commits to:

• Provide resources and professional information to help contribute to the objectives and goals of the Million Hearts™ initiative.
• Raise awareness on the relationships of oral diseases and conditions to cardiovascular diseases.
• Encourage blood pressure monitoring and the smoking cessation programs in the dental office.
• Promote the Million Hearts™ initiative to all members of the oral health care team via ADA print and electronic media.
• Emphasize and promote The Initiative during the ADA 2012 Annual Session in San Francisco.
• Engage our staff in promoting the objectives of the Million Hearts™ initiative through onsite wellness activities and the staff sharing campaign messages with their families and friends.
