Peer Pressure: Children’s Influences

Peer pressure occurs at all ages – from preschool to adulthood. How young children learn to handle pressure from their peers influences how they are able to deal with it when they reach middle and high school. Refusal skills are critical at these ages, as they may be pressured to engage in high-risk behaviors, such as smoking, drug and alcohol use and sex.
