Research Resources
There are many research resources available at USDA to provide information to the public on various topics of agriculture, including economic and policy issues related to agriculture, research on natural resources and the environment, food safety and nutrition, and much more.
 Agricultural Research National Programs

USDA provides in depth agricultural research organized into 22 national program areas. These programs serve to bring coordination, communication, and empowerment to more than 1200 research projects.

 Soil Quality Institute

The Soil Quality Institute develops science-based tools and guidelines for assessing, inventorying, and monitoring soil quality at geographic scales, ranging from field-level conservation planning to national-scale policy development.

 Food Safety Research Information Office

The Food Safety Research Information Office was developed to provide the research community and general public information on publicly and privately funded food safety research initiatives for the purpose of preventing unintended duplication of food safety research and assisting the executive and legislative branches of the government and private research entities to assess food safety research needs and priorities.

 The Agricultural Network Information Center (AGNIC)

The Agricultural Network Information Center is a voluntary partnership between various organizations bringing the general public quality agricultural information.

 Agricultural Online Access (AGRICOLA)

Agricultural Online Access is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its cooperators. Publications and resources at AGRICOLA encompass all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences.

 Current Research Information Center (CRIS)

The Current Research Information Center is USDA's documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed research projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry.

 Production, Supply and Distribution Online (PSD Online) Database

The Production, Supply and Distribution online database contains current and historical official USDA data on production, supply, and distribution of agricultural commodities for the United States and key producing and consuming countries.

 Food and Nutrition Information Center

The Food and Nutrition Information Center provides a directory to credible, accurate, and practical resources for consumers, nutrition and health professionals, educators, and government personnel.

 TEKTRAN

TEKTRAN are summaries that forecast the future of food, nutrition, food safety, crops and livestock, natural resources and sustainable systems, industrial products, and new and emerging technology. These summaries also contain breaking news in biology, chemistry, and other sciences that support the research on the Nation's food and fiber system.

 Water Quality Information Center

The Water Quality Information Center provides a large database where the general public can find information that covers water and agriculture, including publications on drought and weather, irrigation, water conservation, and water quality.
