NTP Laboratory
Research Summary
Laboratory Chief Mike Waalkes, Ph.D. ("/Rhythmyx/assembler/render?sys_contentid=52800&sys_revision=1&sys_variantid=1173&sys_context=0&sys_authtype=0&sys_siteid=&sys_folderid=" sys_dependentvariantid="1173" sys_dependentid="52800" inlinetype="rxhyperlink" rxinlineslot="103" sys_dependentid="52800" sys_siteid="" sys_folderid=""), leads the five research groups that make up the National Toxicology Program (NTP) Laboratory. The laboratory serve as a core laboratory facility for the NTP and also provides a resource for projects that are assigned through the NIEHS leadership, branch chiefs, the Program Review Committee (PRC), or are developed within the laboratory.
The NTP Laboratory has several goals:
- To provide a programmatic wet lab resource for the NTP
- To furnish a long-term development of methods that will aid the NTP in its mission
- To study the developmental origins of adult disease
- To study cross-cutting issues of interest to the NTP
- To develop agent-specific targeted research or methods
