Emily McCormick, MPH, PHPS

Emily is a Public Health Prevention Service fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, currently on assignment in Denver, Colorado at the Institute for Health Research at Kaiser Permanente Colorado. Prior to her field assignment, she did rotations with the Sustainable Management Development Program and the Public Health Law Program at the CDC’s home office in Atlanta. Emily is a native Atlantan who completed her Masters of Public Health in Global Health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. During her graduate program, she spent a summer in Kigali, Rwanda with the Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group combining her knowledge of technical science and public health to implement a novel field laboratory technique to analyze HIV infections in discordant couples. She also assisted in grant writing and research for the International AIDS Trust throughout her time at Rollins.

Emily received her undergraduate degree in biology and biochemistry from Georgia State University and began her public health career helping manage cancer research programs at the Georgia Cancer Coalition. Her career interests in public health are focused on global health issues, surveillance, vaccines, HIV/AIDS, policy, and disease of developing countries.
