Forecast Discussion: Updated Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. A backdoor cold front over northeastern Arizona has set up a tight surface pressure gradient for the local area today and will bring breezy conditions to the area for the remainder of today and into early Saturday. The PM10 levels will reach the low moderate range on the AQI scale today and Saturday at a few locations, especially in central portions of the county. Another weak system will skirt by well to our north on Monday with a much stronger Pacific low pressure system expected to impact the area during Wednesday of next week. At this point it looks like the winds will pick up in intensity on Tuesday and may be strong enough to cause concern for blowing dust. Check back on Sunday/Monday to see if a PM10 Health Watch or High Pollution Advisory needs to be issued for Tuesday. The good news, rain is expected on Wednesday so any air quality impacts will be limited to Tuesday. Stay tuned. Forecaster: S. DiBiase.
