Zero-Based Data Review

Continuing the Commission's drive to be a data-driven agency, three bureaus initiated a "zero-baseline" examination of their data practices. The Wireline Competition Bureau, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, and the Media Bureau released a public notice seeking public comment, proposals and recommendations relating to their collection, use and dissemination of data. An important goal of the "zero-baseline" data review is to eliminate unnecessary data collection while ensuring that the FCC has the information needed for sound analysis and policy making.

The public notices released by the three bureaus request comment on specific aspects of this data review, and include a working inventory of data items to help facilitate comments.
