I'm not just a nurse. I'm serving those who have unselfishly served our country. Amy, VA RN.

We're dedicated to providing the best care—
and so is our staff.

The mission of VA is to fulfill President Abraham Lincoln’s promise to our nation’s heroes: "To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan."

President Lincoln made that pledge to America's Civil War Veterans during his Second Inaugural Address in 1865. Nearly a century and a half later, employees of Department of Veterans Affairs still take this promise to heart, and work diligently to make good on President Lincoln's pledge.

How? By hiring a highly diverse workforce, who embody compassion and are dedicated to providing Veterans with assistance of the most meaningful kind, including medical and financial assistance when they need it most. More important, as the face of our Nation’s heroes evolves to include more female Veterans, VA is shifting its focus to add programs and include initiatives that encompass both the traditional and new needs of Veterans.

In short, VA is committed to developing a culture that is advanced, forward-thinking and completely Veteran-focused. That means we offer a robust set of learning opportunities and courses designed to help our employees to cultivate and advance their skills, so that they may provide our Veterans and their families with the best care available.
