The Neurobiology of Sexual Assault: Implications for First Responders in Law Enforcement, Prosecution, and Victim Advocacy
NIJ Research for the Real World Seminar
December 2012
Rebecca Campbell, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Michigan State University

Dr. Campbell brings together research on the neurobiology of trauma and the criminal justice response to sexual assault. She explains the underlying neurobiology of traumatic events, its emotional and physical manifestation, and how these processes can impact the investigation and prosecution of sexual assaults. Real-world, practical implications are examined for first responders, such as law enforcement, nurses, prosecutors, and advocates.

We also recorded a 3-part interview with Dr. Campbell.

Gaining Speed with "Fast GC": A Practitioner's Perspective
Webinar presented by NIJ's Forensic Science Technology Center of Excellence

View an archived version of this web-based discussion panel of forensic practitioners who have adopted and implemented various components of "fast GC" technologies. Each practitioner in the panel has direct experience in their agency with implementing various aspects of "fast GC" technologies. "Fast GC" refers to the use of combinations of H2 carrier gas, shorter smaller bore columns and faster or low thermal mass ovens to increase chromatographic efficiency while reducing run times.
Registration is required but free.
