Clinical and Translational Science Institute Announces Credits for Biostatistics Consultations
The Biostatistics Collaboration and Consulting Core (BCCC) is collaborating with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) to offer service credits for enhanced biostatistics support for clinical and translational research.
Consistent with the Miami CTSI’s emphasis on culturalized health research, the BCCC supports interdisciplinary clinical and translational research that focuses on health concerns highly prevalent in ethnic and racial minority and medically underserved communities.
Made possible through the Miami CTSI, the biostatistics service credits are available to researchers who meet specific guidelines. Priority will be given to junior investigators preparing NIH grants, senior investigators focusing on new approaches, and investigators with NIH- and intramurally funded studies that require supplements to achieve major interdisciplinary breakthroughs.
The Miami CTSI Community Advisory Board also has identified several high priority areas for scientific research, including obesity-related issues, substance abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, and low-birth-weight babies.
Located on the tenth floor of the Clinical Research Building, the BCCC is dedicated to leading, advising, educating, and training the next generation of clinical and translational researchers in the design and analysis of studies.
The BCCC continues to offer biostatistics clinics and is developing other educational opportunities, such as biostatistics roundtables.
For more information, investigators seeking support may make an appointment, or walk in for a brief consultation between 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. on Fridays.
To allow adequate time for quality support, investigators developing NIH grant submissions for approaching deadlines are strongly encouraged to contact the BCCC for statistical support as soon as possible.
