Renewable Energy

The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations is expanding the U.S. Department of State's reliance on clean renewable energy predominantly through the use of photovoltaic systems.  Photovoltaics, also called solar panels, have become the Department's most universally deployed renewable tenchology.  These systems cut operating costs, and reduce the Department's reliance on fossil fuel-based sources of energy.  The use of photovoltaic systems reduces the Department's overall carbon footprint and demonstrates that the United States Government is exemplifying "eco-diplomacy".
