U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

Contributing to America’s Waterway Safety

Today’s U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, with nearly 32,000 men and women, is a unique force that carries out an array of responsibilities touching almost every facet of the U.S. maritime environment.

The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions.

Safe and Secure Waterways

Since 1939 the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests in the heartland, in the ports, at sea, and around the globe.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the lead agency protecting America’s seaward frontier in recreational boating safety. Our vessels and aircraft deploy across all of the U.S. We aid or save countless boaters every year. Every day the auxiliary saves hundreds of thousands in property and saves countless lives.

Recreational boating safety is the priority of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Auxiliary fulfills this mission though vessel safety checks, publication education, marine safety and more.
