Rear Admiral John G. King


Rear Adm. King became commander, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) in July 2011.  NAVSUP WSS, a single virtual organization with two primary sites in Philadelphia and Mechanicsburg, Pa., provides program and supply support for naval aircraft, ships and submarines worldwide. Prior to his tour at NAVSUP WSS, he served as deputy commander, Fleet Logistics Operations (SUP 04), Naval Supply Systems Command.

King is a native of Massachusetts. He is a 1984 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Business Management. He holds a master’s degree in Acquisition Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif., and is also a graduate of the Executive Training Program of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

His sea tours include USS Nimitz (CVN 68), supply officer of USS Pensacola (LSD 38), and supply officer of USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75).

His shore assignments include deputy commander - Aviation, Naval Inventory Control Point,  and commander, Defense Distribution Depot, Susquehanna, Pa.

King is a qualified supply corps aviation and surface warfare officer, joint service officer and a member of the Acquisition Professional Community.  His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, and various other unit and personal decorations.
