caGrid

  • caGrid 0.5 (Prototype) Technology Evaluation A white paper documenting the evaluation of caGrid, a system created to facilitate data and system integration across the caBIG® network. Development of the system was based on The Globus Tool Kit and the Open Grid Services Architecture-Data Access Integration (OGSA-DAI). [07/23/2004]
  • caBIG® Rules Engine White Paper Written by members of the Strategic Planning Workspace, the purpose of this white paper is to provide an overview of available rules engine technologies and to: 1) initiate a process of evaluating the need for rules engine technologies across caBIG® workspaces, 2) begin a process of exploring the match between existing rules engine technologies and workspace requirements, and 3) begin a process of investigating how rules engine technology can be layered on the ongoing BPEL-based workflow effort. Compatibility

  • Compatibility & Certification  Compatibility guidelines, the silver level compatibility review process, and the bronze level certification program.
  • Adoption of External Standards   This paper examines some examples of external standard adoption efforts in caBIG®. We investigate the issues that were faced in these efforts, what approaches were taken, and what caBIG® and external tools were employed. [v1  9/8/2006]
  • Common Query Language   A white paper evaluating query languages that can be leveraged and standardized across all the data grid services within caBIG®. [March 2005]
  • Data Standards   Process used by the Vocabulary and Common Data Elements Workspace to review and facilitate the caBIG® review of CDEs submitted for consideration as standard in caBIG® . Includes the governance model, review process, candidate standards, accepted standards.
  • Default Datatypes in the caDSR White Paper   The overall goal of this white paper is to recommend a set of standard datatypes to be used in the caDSR in order to promote interoperability between applications. This will entail an evaluation of the datatypes currently registered in the caDSR, as well as standard datatypes used by the broader software community.  [v1  1/22/2007]
  • Large Scale Harmonization White Paper   A joint Strategic Planning/Vocabulary and Common Data Elements Workspace task force was convened by the Strategic Planning group to examine this question, and a preliminary report was issued in the summer of 2006. The problems statements, analyses, and recommendations within this task force report were uniformly well-received. The present white paper is an expansion of the task force document to include more background and recommendations to address large scale harmonization in caBIG®.  [final  11/20/2006]
  • MVR Missing Value Reason   A white paper with recommendations of how caBIG® developers can classify and describe the metadata for data fields that are missing values. [draft  7/13/2005]
  • Vocabulary Services on caGrid White Paper   This white paper describes a strategy and technical approach for the integration of vocabulary services for caGrid. The paper discusses functional areas and the technical approaches to specific use cases described in § 3- Use Cases and Technical Approach. Priorities and timelines are described for each use case. These priorities and timelines will influence caGrid 1.x and LexBIG 1.x development.  [v1  10/19/2006]
  • Workflow Language Recommendations   A white paper evaluating various workflow language technologies. The document presents findings and a recommendation for a caBIG®-wide Workflow Language. [v1.1  1/12/2005]

Industry Partners

  • caBIG® Industry Participation Policy   Guidelines intended to support the successful participation of commercial organizations in caBIG® meetings, teleconferences, and other activities sponsored by NCI or by NCI-funded caBIG® participants. [v1  5/5/2006]

 

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

  • caBIG® IRB Informational Teleconference Presentation   A presentation to IRB representatives on how the DSIC Workspace is identifying and addressing compliance needs related to patient confidentiality, consent, and authorization. Audience included IRB representatives of cancer centers that participate in DSIC Workspace. [v1  2/22/2006]

 

Publications

  • Policy on caBIG® Publications  Outlines the policies and procedures surrounding the publication of caBIG®-related documents. [v1   1/10/2006]
  • Statement on Academic Publications Related to caBIG®  A statement presenting a consensus view of principles endorsed by the caBIG® community for the development of manuscripts prepared for submission to peer-reviewed journals that describe research using software, data repositories, or other resources funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) under its caBIG® initiative. Security

  • ID Management   A white paper evaluating the Life Sciences Identifier (LSID) specification and additional add-ons necessary to satisfy use cases within the caBIG® community. Recommendations and a final design are provided.
  • Security Administration Recommendations for caBIG®   A whitepaper that proposes a standard for addressing issues of security administration, including authorization, authentication, access control, provenance, and usage auditing of caBIG® systems and resources. [v1  12/14/2004]
  • caBIG® Security White Paper Technology Evaluation   A comprehensive review of open source security tools, technologies and standards that could be potentially leveraged by caBIG. [1/23/2006]
