LHNCBC: New Design for NLM Gateway
What's New: New Design for NLM Gateway

APRIL, 2005

The U.S. National Library of Medicine's redesigned NLM Gateway will be available in May, 2005. The goal of the new look and feel for NLM's Gateway is to create a cleaner, straightforward, and understandable interface. The new design continues to allow users to simultaneously search National Library of Medicine's multiple retrieval systems. The new system displays results from all of the individual resources with hit counts displayed to help users find the results they need. While looking at specific results, users may move to any of the other result sets. The new interface also provides a comprehensive listing of the collections searched by Gateway.

The collections are divided into three broad categories: Bibliographic Resources, Consumer Health Resources, and Other Information Resources. A new side menu bar has also been added to assist users find the best results for their search. Functions for finding the appropriate search terms, changing search limits, using the search history, and accessing the Locker are cleaner and clearer than before.
