Physicians characterized as "Unemployed" include those characterized as "Inactives" as categorized by the AMA Physician Characteristics and Distribution in the US, 2012 Edition.

Definition of "Inactive":

• Inactives include physicians who are retired, semiretired, working part-time, temporarily not in practice, or not active for other reasons and who indicated they worked 20 hours or less per week.

Summary:
