"Sequestration," or a series of automatic federal government budget cuts totaling $1.2 trillion over the course of 10 years, will begin March 1, 2013. A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that among the 46.0 million adults who received income-based government assistance in 2011, 30.4 percent of them had a disability. "Disability Characteristics of Income-Based Government Assistance Recipients in the United States: 2011" provides information on the types of disabilities among people 18 and older who received income-based government aid. Types of disability include vision, hearing, cognitive, ambulatory, self-care or independent living difficulties.
