Summary	Correspondence, diaries, writings, scientific and medical data, family papers, photographs, and other papers pertaining chiefly to McGee's studies of communistic societies in the United States such as the Shakers and the Bethel and Oneida communities, to her duties as acting assistant surgeon in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War, and to the formation of the Women's Anthropological Society of America. Subjects include hygiene and medical matters. Family correspondents include her father, Simon Newcomb; her son, Eric McGee Newcomb; and her grandfather, Charles A. Hassler. Hassler's correspondence includes a letter from James Madison, 1832. Other correspondents include Charles Benedict Davenport, Edward Singleton Holden, Alcander Longley, and Gifford Pinchot.
