Special Counsel -- Office of Strategic Planning & Policy Analysis

Nick Alexander, as Special Counsel for OSP, assists the OSP Chief in working with the Chairman, Commissioners, Bureaus, and Offices to develop strategic plans and identify the agency's policy objectives.  Before joining OSP in January 2013, Nick worked primarily on Wireline issues in number of capacities, including as a staff attorney and manager in the Wireline Compeititon Bureau and as a legal advisor to three members of the Commission.  He has worked on, among other things, special access pricing, transaction reviews, the high-cost program of the Universal Service Fund, open Internet, and reform of the Video Relay Service program.

Before joining the Commission in 2005, he was an associate in the Communications and Information Technology Group of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.  Prior to practicing law, Nick served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army.  Nick holds a J.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Law and a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
