Our veterans deserve the benefits they earned by serving our nation in uniform. I am honored to represent Ohio’s 900,000 veterans as a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. For more than 145 years, Ohio has been a leader in veterans’ services – from founding one of the nation’s first chapters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Columbus, to establishing the nation’s first VA hospital in Dayton, to our extraordinary system of county veterans’ service offices today. As your Senator, I am working to ensure Ohio remains a leader in serving those who served us.

Sen. Brown Kicks-Off 88-County Roundtable Tour In Delaware County With Community Stakeholders
DELAWARE, OHIO - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Delaware County leaders met on Tuesday for a roundtable discussion on economic development, education, infrastructure investments, and the upcoming session of Congress.
The roundtable is the first in a series of county roundtables Brown will convene across Ohio during his second term in the Senate. In Brown’s first term, he held more than 200 community roundtable meetings, including at least one session in each of Ohio’s 88 counties.

Senate Passes Cost-Of-Living Increase For Veterans
Legislation to increase veterans' compensation through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) passed the Senate. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) cosponsored the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2011 that would affect several important benefits, including veterans’ disability compensation and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children. It is projected that over 3.5 million veterans and survivors will receive compensation benefits in Fiscal Year 2012.

Brown Announces New Federal Resources To Provide Critical Services To Homeless Veterans In Mahoning Valley
New federal resources will provide critical support for homeless veterans in Warren. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Family and Community Services, Inc. of Portage County has been awarded a new federal grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) which will serve homeless veterans in Warren. The $960,000 grant will be used to provide temporary housing for homeless veterans.
