SAMHSA Charitable Choice Regulations
New Charitable Choice regulations (Final)
Final language on the Charitable Choice provisions of the Public Health Act (Sections 581-584 and Section 1955 of 24 U.S.C. 290 kk, et seq,. and 42 U.S.C. 300x-65) will be published in the Federal Register on September XX, 2003
SAMHSA's regulations affect providers and recipients of substance abuse treatment or prevention services that are funded through:

The Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) block grant,
-
Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) formula grant, and
- SAMHSA discretionary grants for substance abuse prevention and treatment services.
SAMHSA's Charitable Choice Provisions are intended to ensure that religious organizations may compete on an equal footing for Federal funds for substance-abuse services.
