Casey Elementary School

USAG Casey History Camp Casey was named and officially dedicated in 1952 in memory of Maj. Hugh B. Casey, who died in a plane crash here in December 1951. Casey arrived in Korea in 1951, a Second Lieutenant, and served as a company commander in the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He received the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second highest award for valor, for heroism at the Hungnam beachhead.

School Closure Hotline

Casey Elementary School has established a hotline for information about school delays and closures. The conditions are: 1) remain open; 2) two-hour delay and 3) closed. During days when school is delayed, buses will pick-up children two hours later than normal and they will return home at the regular time. However, parents must send lunch to school with their children because the school will not have sufficient time to arrange for meals to be served. To check the status of school, call 031-869-6481.

Message from the Principal

July 3, 2012

Welcome to Casey Elementary School. I am very excited about School year 2012-13 as we continue to grow and add traditions to our school.

We are the Casey Wolves, our school colors are Red and Black and we stand tall as "One School, One Pack." Casey Elementary students "Enter to Learn and Leave to Lead." Our vision: Casey Elementary School develops leaders by providing a challenging education and preparing successful citizens for a dynamic global community.

Casey Elementary School proudly serves students in Sure Start through eighth grade. Elementary students have regular classroom instruction as well as "specials" which consist of art, health, host nation, physical education and music.

Our Middle School (students in grades six through eight) operates on a sex period day. Sixth grade students have one elective class each day while students in seventh and eighth grade have two elective classes each day. We offer tradition "exploratory wheel" classes to the middle school students to expose them to many areas of interest so they can focus on their interest when developing their six year plan toward graduation. In addition, students have the opportunity to take art, beginning or advanced ban, computer programming classes, Spanish I and II and Algebra I. We also offer Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) for seventh and eighth grade students and we are excited to be adding an AVID Study Skills course for sixth graders this year.

Casey Elementary School is staffed with highly qualified educators whose goal is to increase natural curiosity among students and foster a love for learning. We have both an elementary and a middle school counselor to help students with the transition process so they can focus on learning and success in the classroom. We want to work in partnership with parents to make this education experience the best possible for each child.

I look forward to meeting you and welcome you to the Casey Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Shelly Kennedy
Principal
