CSM Breck Encouraged Graduates

Command Sgt. Maj. Leo Davis III receives a Sergeants Major Nonresident Course diploma from Command Sgt. Maj. Robert B. Breck. Breck was the guest speaker for the Nonresident Sergeants Major Course, Class 3-13 graduation on Feb. 12 at the Ft. Bliss Centennial Club. Davis was one of 39 students to graduate the Phase II portion of the Nonresident course during the year. CSM Breck encouraged the graduates to have a vision and set expectations for their subordinate leaders. He reminded them that it is senior NCO leaders� job to advance the NCO Corps, and during these challenging times, our past experience is essential in maintaining stability in the organization. Breck�s final message was that "rank has its privileges," but more importantly increased rank has its responsibilities and that is where the focus should be.

Congratulations to the graduates of Class 63-005 of the Spouse Leadership Development Course. The course�s mission is to proactively educate USASMA spouses and promote a team-building approach by enhancing and developing leadership skills to support readiness, morale, and a successful command. The spouses echoed that sentiment by the skills they learned during the course and other souses should not miss this tremendous opportunity. They feel they are better prepared to support their spouse/Soldier/leader in their future roles. ULTIMA Strong!

Sergeant Major David Gonzalez bid his final farewell to the Army ranks today retiring with 30 years of service to his country. He entered the Army in 1983 as a Man Portable Air Defense Systems Crewmember. He served in numerous positions in Air defense units up to Brigade CSM. He has numerous deployments to include Operation Iraqi Freedom. His final assignment was Operations Sergeant Major, Sergeants Major Nonresident Course, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.
