Many men diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer could forego radical prostatectomy and live as long as men who have immediate surgery, according to long-awaited results from a clinical trial published July 19, 2012, in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). - Abiraterone Improves Survival in Metastatic Prostate Cancer
A multinational phase III trial found that the drug abiraterone acetate prolonged the median survival of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer by 4 months compared with patients who received a placebo. - NIH-funded study shows reduction in death for men with intermediate-grade prostate cancer:
