Summary: Idaho Legal Aid Services (ILAS) is applying for $239,907 in Wraparound Victim Legal Assistance Network Demonstration Project funding to create the Southwest Idaho Wraparound Victim Legal Assistance Network (Network). The Network’s purpose is to address the lack of legal services available to crime victims within the Project Area.

The project goal is to develop a comprehensive, collaborative model for delivering wraparound legal services to crime victims to meet legal needs that arise from their victimization. The first objective is to develop and conduct a Victims of Crime Legal Needs Assessment. The Assessment will identify the gaps in legal services for crime victims in the Project Area through the use of surveys, interviews and other devices. Results will lead to the development of an implementation plan with policies, procedures and protocols for providing victims with critical legal services and referrals within the Network. Policies, procedures, strategies and interventions developed or employed in response to the implementation plan will be tracked and reported.

Key activities such as strategic planning and collaboration in the development of key project reports and deliverables will be undertaken by a Wraparound Victim Legal Assistance Network Steering Committee. The (1) the Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program, (2) Nampa Family Justice Center, (3) FACES Justice Center, (4) Concordia Law School, (5) Catholic Charities of Idaho, (6) Southwest Idaho Area Agency on Aging, (7) ILAS, and (8) researchers from BSU’s Center for the Study of Aging have agreed to participate.

Time permitting; the Network will begin implementation and the provision of services to victims of crime within the Project Area.
