Summary: Knoxville Leadership Foundation (KLF) requests support for our SOUTHEAST MENTORING INITIATIVE (SMI), for implementation of a single program design in our three established and qualified mentoring sites:

  1. Amachi Knoxville (AK) operated by KLF since 2004 – primary applicant; 901 East Summit Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37915
  2. Amachi Central Kentucky (ACK) operated by Lexington Leadership Foundation since 2004 – co-applicant; 1750 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40544
  3. Amachi Wilmington (AW) operated by Wilmington Area Leadership Foundation since 2008 – co-applicant; 20 North Fourth Street, Wilmington, NC 28401

The locations of our sites are in geographic proximity, with Knoxville in the center as a natural hub.

Target population is youth ages 12-14. To meet goal of including teaching and advocacy into mentors’ roles, objectives and related activities involve development of inventories to improve matching, training to increase mentors’ training and advocacy abilities, and a regional website for ongoing mentor support – to be tested and implemented in our three mentoring sites.

Progress toward goals will be measured with current data system. SMI will participate in the OJJDP-funded evaluation.
