Clinical Research Unit, North Carolina

The Office of Clinical Research (OCR) is responsible for the overall management of the NIEHS Clinical Research Program (CRP). This includes strategic planning, policy formulation, program development, and overall administrative support and coordination. The OCR provides staff support and services to the CRP in the areas of general administrative support, budget planning and monitoring, acquisitions and purchasing, time keeping, supply and property management, policy development and implementation, and contract administration including the Clinical Support Services Contract.

 

In addition to the previous activities, OCR also provides specialized support to the NIEHS Clinical Research Unit (CRU) in regards to operations, management, and logistics. These include patient privacy and safety, physician credentialing, clinical research volunteer compensation, continuing medical education (CME), IT integration with the NIH Clinical Center, accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and clinical research database development via the eSprit Healthcare eSphere application.

 

Finally, the OCR serves as the main point of contact between the CRP and all other NIH/NIEHS Offices, Departments or Branches.
