Grantees provide Federal Geographic Data Committee compliant metadata with each submission. The Transfer Data Model has pre-populated most of the required fields for metadata. Required fields are pre-populated with 'REQUIRED' and listed below for convenience.

Required fields for completion must be filled out for each layer with data:

Heading Tab Field Comment
Identification General Purpose REQUIRED - A summary of the intentions with which the data set was developed.
Identification General Supplemental Information REQUIRED - In this section, include particular information on the processes and source information used to create this dataset.
Identification Primary Contact Person REQUIRED - The primary person responsible for the data at the state level.
Identification Primary Contact Organization REQUIRED - The organization at the state level the primary contact works for.
Identification Primary Contact Position REQUIRED - The position the primary contact holds.
Identification Primary Contact Voice Telephone REQUIRED - The telephone number for the primary contact.
Identification Primary Contact Email REQUIRED - The email for the primary contact.
Identification Citation Originator REQUIRED - The organization responsible for the data collection.
Identification Citation Publication Date REQUIRED - The publication date for the data.
Identification Citation Publication Time REQUIRED - The publication time for the data.
Identification Citation Edition REQUIRED - The Edition number for the data (e.g. <year> <FALL|SPRING>)
Identification Citation Other Citation Details REQUIRED - Other citation details.
Identification Time Period Currentness Reference REQUIRED - The basis on which the time period of content information is determined.
Identification Calendar Date REQUIRED - The year (and optionally month, or month and day) for which the data set corresponds to the ground.
Identification Status Progress REQUIRED - The state of the data set.
Identification Status Update Frequency REQUIRED - The frequency with which changes and additions are made to the data set after the initial data set is completed.
