The Super RADOT is a modified version of the RADOT. It is designed for closed-loop tracking and acquisition of long-range metric data. The primary sensor is an Intensified Silicon Intensifier Target System located at the focal plane of the 61 cm aperture, 610 cm focal length Cassegrain telescope.Photo of Super RADOT

Although capable of automatically capturing and tracking objects, the normal mode of operation is to designate the Super RADOT using radar data. Once the designated object is located in the field of view, closed loop track can be initiated. Mount position, track point relative to the video frame, and timing information are superimposed on each frame of video data.

A secondary film recording system utilizes a Photo-Sonics 10R 70mm camera with a 508 cm focal length Jonel lens mounted above the primary telescope (running times are shown below). A 16mm video camera with a 61 cm lens is located beneath the primary telescope for operator aid in acquisition and tracking, as well as for documentary purposes.

There are five Super RADOT sensors located at Kwajalein, Legan(2), Roi-Namur and Gagan Islands.

The graphs present the SuperRADOT's absolute accuracy and relative position accuracy achievable in the optimum sensor configuration.
