As a Health Science Analyst, you will perform the following duties: 

Analyze the impact of funded research on biomedical or behavioral research fields relevant to the NIMH mission;

Identify areas for future scientific research emphasis based on findings from portfolio analyses or program evaluations;

Recommend courses of action to implement new or existing policies or research programs;

Identify and use appropriate analytical software applications in the analysis of research data, including SQL and SAS;

Recommend new tools and develop new methodology for conducting portfolio analyses;

Develop and apply systematic coding schemes to the NIMH scientific research portfolio to support complex analyses;

Lead discussions and scientific working groups focused on the design and implementation of portfolio analyses of research programs.

Basic Requirement:  You must possess a degree in a major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. 

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing and advising on biomedical research programs or policies; evaluating, and reporting on projects to assess the effectiveness of biomedical research programs; analyzing the impact of current and proposed health science policies; identifying problems when assessing the effectiveness of biomedical research programs and initiatives; analyzing biomedical research data to develop summary reports, analyze facts, and draw conclusions; and presenting analyses with recommendations to senior scientific staff.

A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
