Program Description

This program provides Federal financial assistance to states and Territories to participate in a wide array of voluntary conservation projects for candidate, proposed, and listed species. The program provides funding for species and habitat conservation actions on non-Federal lands.

General Program Requirements

Participation is limited to State and Territorial agencies that have a cooperative agreement with the Secretary of the Interior. The annual Request for Proposals will describe the criteria that must be satisfied for a proposal to be eligible for funding and will be announced through www.grants.gov and posted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service website at http://www.fws.gov/endangered/laws-policies/section-6.html.
