SupplementThis supplement of Medical Care Research and Review, sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), highlights two key issues of great importance in improving the quality of the Nation's health care system: expanding the use of health information technology (IT) and reducing disparities in health care delivery.The six articles in the supplement focus on various populations seeking health care in underresourced settings in the U.S., including African American, Hispanic, and Asian American patients as well as low-income children. The health IT strategies address a variety of health issues, including diabetes outcomes, prenatal care, and preventive services. The authors share the findings of an invitational expert meeting that AHRQ sponsored on using health IT and other innovations to reduce disparities in health care quality, as well as results of studies that examined health IT approaches to quality improvement and better communication strategies among vulnerable populations in settings that lack adequate resources.Accessibility Notice: Each abstract links to a PDF file containing the full text of the article.
