Take part in one of many free in-depth trainings covering trauma and PTSD assessment and effective treatment. Many of these sessions are highlighted under topics on the site and also grouped here for your convenience.

PTSD 101 Curriculum

View over 20 PTSD 101 Course Modules to learn about all aspects of PTSD care. CE credits are offered for most courses. These online hour long courses (Flash or PowerPoint format) include:

Part II: From the War Zone to the Home Front: Online Training

Coming in March: As a follow up to last year's successful series, From the War Zone to the Home Front: Supporting the Mental Health of Veterans and Families II will offer:

• 9 new free trainings to help meet the needs of returning Veterans and their families
• Targeted to community primary care and mental health providers
• Trainings are live, online with Q&A (then archives made available)
• 2012 Series: 14 online sessions are archived online. Register for access to archives* until 2/2013.

As a community service CEs are available. Presented in collaboration with the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program*.

• Article - Caring for Returning Veterans: Meeting Mental Health Needs
  Earn CMEs via this article in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry (10 pages). Authors: Terence M. Keane, PhD, Director, Behavioral Science Division, National Center for PTSD with B. Chaudhry, MD, PhD; J.P. Docherty, MD; R.L. Jesse, MD, PhD; J. Lee, MD; J. McNurlen, MA, CRC; and E. Zeller, MPH.
• Conducting Research with Women Veterans
  Until recently, little attention has been devoted to issues specific to conducting research with women Veterans. This course addresses the opportunities and challenges associated with conducting research with women Veterans. It provides concrete suggestions for working with this population. Course takes ~45 minutes to complete.
• Psychological First Aid Training*
  Learn how to assist people in the immediate aftermath of disaster and terrorism. The National Center for PTSD collaborated with NCTSN to create this course and the Psychological First Aid manual.
• CPT Web*
  A web-based course on evidence-based Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CE is available. The website is a project of the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, with collaboration from the National Center for PTSD.

• TF-CBTWeb: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy*
  For those working with abused and traumatized children who have symptoms of posttraumatic stress, this is a web-based course on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
• Child Traumatic Grief: CTGWeb*
  To be completed after TF-CBT training, this 6 hour module teaches therapists how to apply TF-CBT to cases of child traumatic grief.
• TF-CBTConsult*
  Automated clinical consultation to therapists using TF-CBT, based on commonly asked questions.
• Learning Center for Child and Adolescent Trauma*
  The National Child Traumatic Stress Network offers free presentations on assessment, treatment, and services for traumatized children and their families. Includes offerings for working with military families .*
• DoD Monthly Webinar*
  The Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury hosts Monthly Webinars to provide information and facilitate discussion on a variety of related topics. The webinars are open to the public.
