Rembrandt's "Titus" from the Norton Simon Museum

May 11–September 4, 2007

Overview: Portrait of a Boy in Fancy Dress or "Titus" by Rembrandt van Rijn was loaned by the Norton Simon Museum for exhibition at the National Gallery of Art as the first of a series of exchanges between the museums. The painting was installed in the West Building, Main Floor, gallery 48, with other works by Rembrandt and his workshop from the collection of the National Gallery of Art. The painting had been displayed at the National Gallery of Art once before, in 1965, when it was en route to Norton Simon’s home in California shortly after the collector had purchased the work in London.

The installation was organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and the Norton Simon Foundations, Pasadena, California.

Location: West Building, Main Floor, Gallery 48
